Queen's Scout Parade, Windsor Castle

Sunday 25 April 2004

On the Sunday closest to St George's day newly qualified Queen's Scouts are invited to join the annual parade at Windsor Castle. This year the Queen was represented by the Duke of Kent, President of The Scout Association and the 4th by our three new Queen's Scouts Ben Alembick, Chris Stocker and Steve Marston.

09:30 The day started in the Royal Barracks with practice for the afternoon's ceremony.

12:00 The Scouts were dismissed for lunch.

13:30 The Scouts re-assembled in the Royal Mews to form up ready for the ceremony.

14:30 The column marched into Windsor Castle behind the band of the Coldstream Guards and formed up in groups around the Quadrangle at the centre of the castle.

15:00 The Duke of Kent arrived by car at the Queen's Entrance in the corner of the Quadrangle. The Duke and the Chief Scout, George Purdy, then worked their way around the ranks talking to the assembled Scouts.

15:45 The Scouts and bands marched past the guests of honour to take the salute and made their way to St George's Chapel.

16:30 Following the service they marched behind the Scout and Guide band back to the Royal Mews for dismissal.

It was a very proud day for the Scouts and their parents but the Group should also be proud of the leaders and helpers who, over the years, have inspired and trained them to achieve such a high honour.

There were rumours that our new Queen's Scouts got lost on the way to Windsor, but this couldn't be possible after the years of rigorous training provided by the 4th!?
