Explorer Scouts

Ages 14–18

Explorer Scouts are the next step in the Scouting journey, offering young people even greater opportunities to take responsibility, develop their independence and shape their own adventures.

With the support, direction and guidance of their Unit Leaders, Explorers are encouraged to have a real say in what they do. They can help design their own programme, choosing activities and challenges that interest them while working towards the top awards that Scouting has to offer.

Explorers can take part in an incredible range of adventures, from camping, hill walking and mountain climbing to expeditions both in the UK and overseas. They can also get involved in a wide variety of other adventurous and challenging activities, developing skills and experiences that can stay with them for life.

Young Leaders

Explorer Scouts also have the opportunity to take part in the Young Leaders’ Scheme.

Young Leaders work alongside adult volunteers in our younger sections, helping Beavers, Cubs and Scouts to enjoy their own Scouting adventures.

The scheme provides Explorers with valuable opportunities to develop leadership skills, build confidence, take responsibility and gain experience working with younger people. It is a great way for Explorers to give something back to Scouting while developing skills that can benefit them in education, employment and everyday life.

Our Explorer Scout Unit

An Explorer Scout section is called a Unit, and Explorers are encouraged to take an active role in shaping their Unit and its programme.

At 4th Worcester Park, our Explorer Scouts are part of the Worcester Park Explorer Scout Unit.

  • Worcester Park Explorer Scout Unit — Tuesdays, 7:30pm–9:30pm

Whether it’s planning an expedition, climbing a mountain, travelling overseas, learning new skills or helping younger members of the Group, Explorers have the opportunity to take on new challenges, lead from the front and create their own Scouting adventures.

Your adventure. Your challenge. Your future.
